Scriptures
The booklet has the following scriptures at the end of the booklet. During the reading there are endnote references that will guide the reader to the proper Scripture reference. Below are the Scriptures used.
GOD IS SPIRIT AND LOVE
Isaiah 6:9-10 – He said, “Go and tell this people: ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever
seeing, but never perceiving.’ Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise
they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”
Mark 8:17-18 – Do you
still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear?
GOD
DESIRES TO BE YOUR FATHER
John 20:17
2 Corinthians 5:14-20 – For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that
one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but
for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we
once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone,
the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the
message of reconciliation.
ONLY ONE WAY TO THE FATHER
Romans 8:28-30 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those
who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the
likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he
called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
John 14:6-7 – Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth
and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well.
From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
WHAT SEPARATES US FROM THE FATHER
We become separated from the life of God because
of the hardening of our heart and the hardness of our heart comes from the deceitfulness of sin, thus what I call the wall of sin.
Ephesians 4:17-18 – They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in
them due to the hardening of their hearts.
Hebrews 3:13 – But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none
of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
Romans 14:23 – Everything that does not come from faith is sin.
Romans
3:21-26 – But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned
and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in
his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so
as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
Romans 6:20-23 – When you were slaves to sin, you were
free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of?
Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap
leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
Psalms 6:4-5 – Turn, O LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love. No one remembers
you when he is dead. Who praises you from the grave?
Hebrews 9:26-28 – But now he has appeared once for all at the end
of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring
salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Hebrews 10:26-31 – If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge
of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies
of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more
severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing
the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “It is mine
to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the
living God.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.
2 Corinthians 5:21 – God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become
the righteousness of God.
John 17:2-3 – For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all
those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have
sent.
John 8:31-32 – Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and
the truth will set you free.”
TODAY IS THE DAY
Hebrews 4:7 – Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through
David, as was said before: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 – For it is by grace you
have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
Titus
3:4-7 – But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because
of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously
through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Romans 5:7 – But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
HOW DO I START?
John 3:3-8 – In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
“How can
a man be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!”
Jesus
answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives
birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’
The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.
So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
Acts 17:30
Romans 8:5-8 – Those who live according to the sinful nature have
their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit
desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile
to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
